The finish on this silver Oriental is poor, but in over twenty years of looking for one that had a good original finish I have not found one that did! I have seen some that were re-plated, but they didn't look that good either. While the books say this lamp was silver plated, in my own opinion, it was probably more likely a "paint" process than a plating process. Whatever it was the finish was very thin, easily scratched, and quite easily corroded. I have included this one just to show an example of the original silver finish and the condition you will most likely find it in.
